One In, One Out Rule:

As you bring new things in make sure you are sending older things out.  This is especially true for toys or clothes.  Get rid of the things you don’t love or truly enjoy.  Donate those items to someone else that could use them.

Evaluate Your Decorations Before Re-packing:

The perfect time to declutter your Christmas decorations as you are packing them up.  If there are items that you did not put up this year then that is a good indicator that they may need to go.  Only pack up the items that you love and are going to use again.

Get Rid of What You Don’t Use:

Don’t feel guilty about getting rid of the things you don’t enjoy or don’t want to use.  Don’t hold on to items that you don’t truly love and enjoy.

Put Decorations Away in an Organized Fashion:

When you put your decorations away in an organized fashion it will be easier and more enjoyable to get them out next year.  A little bit of  work and planning now can help you avoid a lot of stress next Christmas.

Tackle One Small Area a Day:

While you have time off during the holidays, take one area in your home that is causing you stress and get it organized.  It could be just a drawer in your kitchen or a specific closet shelf.  It doesn’t have you be a huge ordeal just pick something and go for it.
