Digital or printed?  I recently came across an article “The most photographed generation will have no photos in 10 years ”  As a photo organizer and a love of photography I found it to be an interesting read.  So many rely on their pictures to be viewed digitally and choose not to print them, in turn 10 years from now pictures taken today will be obsolete.

The comments about the article of course went both ways and they were as interesting to read as the article itself. I love listening to others about their experiences and opinions. We all can learn from each other with our experiences, good and bad.

The amount of photos taken each day is unbelievably high. Photos are getting lost on all of our devices and when we need to find one we can’t. Organizing them can be just as overwhelming to us as finding the ones we are searching for. That goes with printed and digital photos.

I agree with one of the comments about the whole culture of photos today. There are so many taken that they don’t value them as highly as we use to.  I would rather have 10 great photos of our family to than 50 “ok” ones.

For those of you who are like me and are a fan of both printed and digital photos I have a file on my computer that I put all my “A” photos in that I want to either print or put in a digital album. For me there is just something special about having printed photos around to display or store safely into albums and boxes to enjoy when I want. I also like the convenience and beauty of digital books.

As far as technology goes I feel there will always be a company out there that will be able to retrieve our obsolete technology, just like our old VHS or 8mm videos can be transferred to discs now.

The important fact here is if its digital, printed or both that works for you take the time to maintain and care for your incoming photos in an organized fashion so you can enjoy and retrieve them for generations to come. Most important of all is always have at least 2 backup copies, 3 is best…one of which could be your printed copy.
