Make it easy to donate and/or consign items you are purging. Get into the habit of dropping items into the donate or consign box immediately after you decide you no longer need it. When the box is full, take the items to your favorite charity or consignment shop. For clothing, consider placing a cute hamper or basket into each family members' closet for donations. For other household items, consider placing a box in the garage. This makes it easy to see when the box is full, so you can put it into the back of your car right away to haul it off. When the box gets emptied, there is already a home to return it to. This photo is from a recent project with a client. We created a "home" for consignment and a "home" for donations on a shelf in the garage. If you want to be organized, make it easy on yourself by creating good systems coupled with the habits & routines to maintain them!
