This month’s Local Lifestyles video focuses on simple and inexpensive ways you can bring organization to your master bedroom closet. All of the items mentioned can be found at stores around town or online.

The closet hanger trick

Flip all of your hanging items so that the hook of the hanger faces backwards. Then, when you wear something, flip the hanger back around so it’s hanging normally. At the end of the year, donate or dispose of any clothes that still hang on a backwards-flipped hanger.

  • Thin felted hangers are ideal for hanging shirts and blouses.
  • Thick tube hangers help prevent creases in slacks.

No more floppy boots

Roll up an old magazine and slip it down the shaft of your boots to keep them standing upright when you aren’t wearing them.

Shoe storage

Use clear shoe boxes to store shoes you don’t wear frequently, or if you swap out your summer and winter shoes with each season.
