October is National Kitchen and Bathroom Month, so we wanted to share a few tips for tidying up these frequently used spaces.

Tips for getting organized in the bathroom:

First, group like items together. For example, keep your hair care products together, personal hygiene products together, etc.  If you are not able to designate a shelf for each category, get some cute baskets instead. This saves time, and products won't just fall over.  As a result, when you need to get a product, you can just pull the basket out.

Tips for getting organized in the kitchen:

When you bring new food from the grocery store into your home, the best practice is to put the new stuff in the back and bring the old stuff to the front. This "First In, First Out (FIFO method)" keeps you from wasting food and helps you stay more organized.

Next, use a drawer to keep things like batteries, extension cords, and phone chargers in. Use small baskets or bins to group like items together in the drawer, so you can easily find what you are looking for. We love these bamboo drawer organizer trays from The Container Store.

Thirdly, group your pots together in a cabinet or on a pot rack—whatever you have room for and is your personal preference. Using organizer racks for lids, skillets, baking sheets, etc. can help your cabinets stay clutter-free.

Finally, place your utensils together in a drawer or in a holder on your countertop. If you use things a lot, sometimes it is best to have them out in a container where they are easily accessible.

Using these easy tips, you can tackle the mess and whip your kitchen and bathroom into shape this October. If you have a space that's too big for you to handle alone, Lasting Order can help!
