Anyone who has clothes has struggled with organizing laundry at one point or another!
Professional Organizer, Amy Payne, gives tips on how to manage laundry, including color-coding socks, reducing the amount of clothing you own and selecting the right laundry basket.
Think about your lifestyle and what types of clothes your need. For children Amy recommends keeping 14 or less shirts per season.
As you are putting away the clothes from the season that is ending make sure to get rid of or donate items that you did not wear or that are damaged.
Baskets that stack can be easily stored and can cut down on clutter in your laundry area. Also find baskets that have the quantity of one load of laundry, that way you will know exactly when you need to do a load.
This will help each person know when a load needs to be done and can help clothes stay sorted by each individual.
This will help to keep track of which socks go to which child. It also helps the children to be more accountable for their things because everyone will know who's sock got left on the stairs.
Hopefully these tips will get you started on taming the laundry monster. Please share any other laundry tips that have helped you.
