In honor of Save Your Photos Day, we are sharing a few more of our favorite photo organizing tips!

Would your photos and memories survive a disaster?

Lasting Order continues our campaign during the month of September by supporting National Preparedness Month. We have partnered with APPO (Association of Personal Photo Organizers) and are raising awareness of how important it is to make sure all your photos are saved in case of a disaster. Photo Organizing tips:

TIP #3 Create a goal for your photos. Ask yourself how do I want to enjoy my pictures? In albums, digital albums, scrapbooks, frames, or just nicely organized in photo safe boxes? Maybe your goal is just safely boxed until your ready to put them in albums or frames. That goal alone will make the next step in the process of retrieving your photos so much easier. TIP #4 Once you have all your photos in one area and while you still maybe creating a goal for them, put them in chronological order the best you can do for right now. Working from the present backwards may be easier to do. If you have generations of photos just do your best. Maybe try sorting by decades for now and later they can be broke down further. TIP #5 Sort! Sort! Sort! This can be done while putting your pictures in chronological order also. Make three piles, one for keep, one to toss, and one give to someone else. This will help eliminate all those doubles they use to include when we had our film developed. Toss the blurry ones and the ones you have no idea who they are. Exception to the rule of tossing right now is heritage pictures.

Remember…

Take the time to enjoy this process, it is a process. One step at a time! The end result will be worth it.
