After she graduated high school, Hilary joined the Lasting Order team for a summer of organizing! We loved working with her and asked her to recap her success as she heads off to college. Consequently, moving into her dorm will be a breeze after the sorting and organizing skills she gained working with our team!
Organizing Work
I decided to work for Lasting Order over the summer because I wanted something more interactive and challenging than working retail. Not only is it more interactive, but it's also rewarding to help people feel more comfortable in their everyday lives.
Throughout the summer, I mainly worked with clients who were moving into a new home. I helped pack and/or unpack, providing the client ease when it comes to the moving process.
Learning and Teamwork
The most surprising thing I learned about professional organizing is that organization can look like many things. Each client is different in what they need from the space, and we were there to accommodate those needs.
My favorite part about working for Lasting Order is my coworkers. Each and every person brings something valuable to the table. Everyone is motivated and always cheering each other on.
Hilary's Words of Wisdom
Advice I would give anyone considering a job in professional organizing is to not be afraid of failure. Because, through failure, one finds a more efficient and effective solution to the problem. This is also where one can cultivate growth in their personal and work life.
Throughout the summer, I improved my problem-solving skills. Thinking outside the box is definitely something every professional organizer must attain and grow.
To conclude, thank you Hilary for sharing your time and talents with us this summer. We can't wait to get organizing with you again when you come home!
