Today's tip is to use color coded filesin your filing cabinet. This helps save time and makes your filing cabinet a lot more FUN! We use burgundy for our accounting/tax related files, purple for forms, red for residential clients, blue for business clients and manila for everything else. If we're looking for a residential client file, our eyes can quickly move to the red files and then scan through them alphabetically. This saves a tremendous amount of time - especially if a client calls and we need to quickly pull their file to reference information during the call.

BONUS TIP:

Printing file folder labels from your computer helps your files to be neat, orderly and legible. Use a consistent labeling system (i.e. Last, First or Company Name, The) so you can always find what you are looking for! Our favorite file folder labels are Avery 8366. They print nicely and stay put on our file folders.
