Our 1000Lb Sisters Experience

Lasting Order was featured on two episodes of TLC's 1000Lb Sisters! The producers asked us to help 1000LB Sisters star, Amy Slaton, with organizing her home. Both Amy and Tammy Slaton grew up in rural Kentucky with a self-diagnosed family history of hoarding.  The organizing session premiered on TLC Season 3, episode 4 and 5 (Titled "Heavy Hoarders" and "Pushed Too Far"), which aired on December 6 and 13, 2021, respectively. In the episodes, Amy Slaton tried to get her house organized with the help of the Lasting Order professional organizers and got emotional about her past. Lasting Order professional organizers Amy and Jamie helped Amy work through her family history of hoarding. They also worked through current organizing struggles to create a safe, happy space for Michael, Amy and Gage. professional organizers 1000lb sisters episode

Lasting Order worked in Amy Slaton's home for one day and organized her kitchen, living room and baby items. Our organizers worked with Amy to declutter unneeded items and even some sentimental items. Amy's ultimate goal was to create a safe space for her son. Lasting Order owner, Amy Payne, said that the experience was both exciting and rewarding. "We appreciate the opportunity and are pleased with the difference we made for the Slaton family in their home. We love it when clients are hesitant to allow us in and when they see the end result, they are so grateful!" said Payne. This is the first time Lasting Order appeared on the series and working with the producers and the Slaton family was a positive experience. professional organizers 1000lb sisters episode

Local 7 Lifestyles TV interviewed Amy about her national television debut

Professional Organizer, Amy Payne, appeared on ABC 25 Local 7 Lifestyles TV to discuss her experience with host, Ange Humphrey, in January of 2022. "They said that they wanted the living room and kitchen area organized. It's all one big room so that can be challenging at times. They scheduled a day for us to come in and we ended up doing it on Memorial Day [2021]. So it's been that long and it just aired at the beginning of December."

"We went out for the day and we worked for about seven or 8 hours and organized the house while the crew filmed the entire thing. I'm used to being on TV and speaking in front of cameras but this was a different experience! We were working while being filmed so they had three or four GoPros around the room at all times and every hour they would bring in a camera crew and film 10-15 minutes of interaction."

The psychological effects of getting organized

Ange from ABC 25 Local 7 Lifestyles then asked about the psychological effects of hoarding behavior and clutter on the Slaton sisters. Amy Payne discussed the impacts that clients' physical spaces can have on their mental health. "I mean, they've been working on weight loss. Amy Slaton is the sister that we organized and she's been working on weight loss quite a bit. I think that getting organized is a good next step towards whole life health, really. It has a lot to do with your mental health and the state of things in your home - they all kind of go together."

Our team did a fantastic job decluttering and organizing Amy's home! We are so thankful for the experience, and for getting to know Amy Slaton and her family. Thank you to the producers and to TLC for the opportunity to be featured on the show!
